The Bavarian BMW will premiere the i4 models as well as the BMW iNext EV during 2020 and 2021, but the i series may remain without the i3 as well as the unforgettable i8 hybrid.
The two cars that had their debut in 2014, have recently undergone a process of restyling, so they will definitely remain in the Bavarian giant’s offer in the near future.
The BMW i3 was refreshed before i8 over the last year. Besides the coupe version of the i8, the roadster version was also promoted through the presentation of the restylated version. However, with the completion of the life cycle of the current vehicles, they may not have their own “heirs”.
“It is too early to make a decision regarding future generations with the i3 as well as i8,” said Stefan Juraschek, head of the unit for electrified powertrain assemblies at BMW AG in a conversation with reporters last week at the Car Show in New York.
“These cars are really unique. They are unique in the sense that they are developed in a way that does not support them as the basis for different concepts based on them.”
