Pop Singer Miley Cyrus faces a $ 300 million lawsuit over copyright infringement. The suit is linked to her song ‘We Can Stop’. Namely, the Jamaican composer Michael May claims that the 2013 hit “We Can Stop” recalls a song he wrote as early as 1988.
May reports that Cyrus’ song contains more than fifty percent of the arrangement of his song “We Run Things” – including music and text. He claims that the lyrics “We run things / Things no run we” repeat in Cyrus’ poem with a slight alteration, “We Run Things / Things Do not Run We.”
Miley’s hit “We Can not Stop” came in second on the Billboard list for the 100 biggest hits in 2013, while May’s We Run Things reached the first place in his native Jamaica in 1988.
In addition to being asked to be paid $ 300 million, May wants to stop further performances and sell this song.
